Frequently asked questions

How do I unlock today’s puzzle?

Choose a theme with pictures left to unlock, then enter or confirm both the bedtime and wake-up time for today’s wake-up date. Tap a locked puzzle to fill in missing entries, or add them in your sleep journal.

Both times must already have occurred, and bedtime must be earlier than wake-up time. You do not need to meet your sleep goals. All themes share one new picture per local calendar day; adding past records or switching themes does not grant an extra daily unlock.

How do I move the puzzle pieces?

Tap two pieces to swap them, or drag one onto another. Each puzzle has 16 square pieces. When you finish, the picture joins the gallery for that theme.

Can I add or edit earlier sleep records?

Yes. Open the sleep journal, select the date, and enter or edit your bedtime and wake-up time. Records are grouped by the date you woke up. Bedtime can be on that date or the preceding day; wake-up time must be on the selected date.

You can browse earlier weeks. Adding earlier records updates your journal but does not award extra daily puzzles.

Do I need to allow notifications?

No. Journaling, puzzles, and in-app prompts work without notification permission. If you allow notifications and save your schedule, the app sends daily local bedtime and wake-up reminders. No separate alarm permission is needed.

If a reminder does not appear, check the app’s notification permission in iOS Settings, your Focus settings, and your chosen reminder times in the app. These are notification reminders, not system alarms.

Does opening a notification record a time?

No. A notification opens the app. Confirm the in-app check-in prompt or enter the time in your journal to save a record.

After a goal time, an in-app prompt may appear if that entry is missing. Closing the prompt does not save a time or schedule another notification; it may appear on a later visit if the entry is still missing.

Does Sleepuzzle measure my sleep automatically?

No. The iOS app uses the times you enter or confirm. It does not monitor other apps, read Screen Time or Apple Health data, or detect sleep stages. The duration shown is the time between your entries, not a measured sleep duration.

Will my records sync or come back after reinstalling?

There is no in-app account, cloud sync, or export. Sleep records, puzzle progress, and collected pictures are stored locally. Deleting the app removes its local data, so please do not reinstall it as an initial troubleshooting step.

Device backups and restoration are managed separately by iOS and depend on your settings. We do not receive your local records and cannot recover them for you.

Where can I change language, time format, or sound?

Open Settings using the gear button. Choose English, Simplified Chinese, or the system language, and select a 12-hour or 24-hour time format. Background music and puzzle sound effects have separate switches; music also has a volume control.

Can I use the app offline? Are there ads or subscriptions?

Journaling, daily unlocks, and puzzles work offline. Artwork and audio are included. The current version has no ads, subscriptions, or in-app purchases, and no account is required.

Opening these support webpages or sending us email requires an internet connection.
